I’ve been a reader my entire life. I can’t imagine my life without having being in the middle of a book. So I thought it would be interesting to down why I read books.
- To escape the world.
- The learn about the experiences of others.
- To learn about something I don’t know anything about.
- To better understand history.
- To get a better understanding of a complex topic.
- To get “beyond the headlines” on news stories.
- To get perspective about how other people live.
- To learn about places I’ve never been.
- To learn about cultures that are not my own.
- To feel like other people share my thoughts and perspectives.
- To live in someone else’s imaginary world.
- To pretend to be someone I’m not.
- To explore topics I know nothing about.
- To get an understanding of what the fuss is about with books that I keep seeing all over the place.
- To challenge myself.
- To improve my vocabulary.
- To inspire myself to do better.
- To learn tips and tricks for improving my life.
- To expose myself to viewpoints that might challenge my own.
- To see why someone I love recommended a particular book.
- To see if the book lives up to the awesome cover.
- To see if the author can pull of what sounds like an amazing premise.
- To scare myself.
- To face my fears.
- To learn from the past.
